VICAR:  The Rev. Christopher Owens

 

The Vicar is the incumbent of the parish, having the cure of souls that live within it. He is responsible to perform services within the parish, providing instruction for children, visiting the sick, and providing counsel and advice for parishioners.

 

READER: Michael Kendall-Torry

 

A Reader is a lay minister, appointed after training and having been licensed by the bishop. He can visit and pray for the sick, teach and preach, and also assist in the distribution of communion.

 

CHURCHWARDENS:  Pauline Setchfield, Ken Smith.

 

The Churchwardens are the officers of the Bishop within the parish. Legally, they are the owners of the contents of the church, and are responsible for maintaining order within the church and allocating seats within it.

The PCC is responsible for the church’s finances and buildings. Together with the Vicar, it also charged to promote the church’s mission within the parish.

Sidesmen are assistants to the churchwardens in maintaining order within the church and churchyard.

 

 

ORGANIST & CHOIR DIRECTOR: Chris South.

 

In addition to playing the church organ and supervising the choir, the Organist and Choir Director also provides advice and assistance to the Vicar of use and choice of music.

 

 

LAY MINISTERS OF COMMUNION: Doris Albrecht, Alan Batten, Pauline Setchfield.

 

The Lay Ministers of Communion are people nominated by the PCC and authorised by the Bishop to assist in the distribution of communion. At St Edmund’s they predominantly take the cup to the people.

 

 

 

SACRISTAN: Claudia Smith

ASSISTANT SACRISTAN: Catherine Greenidge

 

The sacristan is responsible for the care of the sacred vessels and moveable items used within the church.
